The First Saturday in December finds the WBC at the United Artist’s Theatre in Marina Del Rey with 250 inner city kids and their chaperones for our annual Holiday Movie Screening. This is another opportunity for our WBC members and their families to work directly with the kids that we support. When the buses arrive, the kids are escorted into the theatre and are handed popcorn, drinks, and candy by our WBC volunteers. During the movie, WBC "elves" are wrapping gifts bought especially for each child and putting together WBC bags of school supplies. After the movie, the kids are treated to a magic show by a local professional magician, then marched one by one to receive their wrapped present and goodie bag. For some of the children, this is their first time in a movie theatre and the experience is magical. And for the volunteers, their usually isn't a dry eye in the bunch.
